Jenny Ruth’s prose has appeared in Yellow Arrow Journal, Waxwing, The Hopper, Streetlight, Beacon Press’s website to support the book “Bullets Into Bells,” and Gravel’s post-election blog series “All Trumped Up.”
JR worked in college admissions for a decade, including time spent managing communications for the admissions and financial aid offices at a private liberal arts college. Her professional writing won several regional awards and one international award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).She is currently an admissions counselor in private practice.
From August 2016-March 2019 Jenny Ruth held various leadership roles for the Pittsburgh Central team of Moms Demand Action for Gunsense in America. She was part of a movement that got Pennsylvania to disarm domestic abusers shortly before being called to serve in support of the Jewish community after Oct. 27, 2018. She resigned from leadership in Moms Demand Action to run for office. She now serves as a school director in her local district, and co-chairs a local independent group of Democratic women. She is also the chair of the Christian Education committee at her ELCA church where she teaches 6th grade Sunday School.
Jenny Ruth lives in the greater Pittsburgh area with her husband, kids, and an unnecessary amount of pets.
